Net Neutrality: The Next Obamacare?

The Federal Communications Commission has decided to adopt Net Neutrality rules which will increase governmental regulations and interference with internet usage.

Those who champion this are poor students of history.

For decades the phone company was one entity and highly regulated. It was broken up in the 1980's and phone service became cheaper and better. Anyone think the cell phone industry would have thrived if Ma Bell was still the sole phone provider under heavy government regulations?

The same thing happened with airlines. Up until when airlines were deregulated in the late 1970's, air travel was expensive and limited to the well-to-do. After deregulation, prices came down and air travel become more affordable and available to more people.

We all know how successful (NOT) government has been with Obamacare. Areas of the economy like health care and higher education that have to deal with government interference tend to be more expensive and less responsive to free market forces. Looks like the internet may soon suffer the same problem.

Will New Oregon Governor Become a Polygamist?

Oregon's Governor Kitzhaber resigned earlier this month under a cloud of corruption. He was replaced by Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown. For some reason the media finds it important to report that Governor Brown is the first openly bisexual governor in United States history.

The LGBT community is eagerly awaiting the day later this year when the Supreme Court will likely declare same sex marriage to be legal. What they are less eager to support is marriage equality for bisexuals. By definition, someone who is bisexual is attracted to both men and women. In the spirit of allowing people to marry who they love, why shouldn't a bisexual such as Governor Brown be allowed to marry a man and a woman? Governor Brown is currently married to a man, but if her husband is okay with the relationship, why shouldn't they be allowed to marry a woman? Wouldn't it be wrong to deny such happiness to a bisexual?

Of course, you don't find the LGBT community demanding the legal right of bisexual marriage with three or more people. Doesn't this go against their prime value of diversity? They should be all for this, right?

Being excellent at the public relations game, they suppress championing polygamy, knowing it will cost them support from the general public. Same sex marriage has never been about being able to marry who you love. The goal has been to normalize LGBT behavior. If gays can get legally married, than their gay lifestyle choices should be acceptable by everyone. Gay men will marry at a rate far lower than their hetero counterparts.

Children do best when raised by their married parents. Having a mother and a father has been shown in study after study to be the optimal environment to raise children. When the LGBT community hijacks the meaning of marriage, it is a selfish, anti-children action. They could get all the legal rights needed by advocating for civil unions, but that would not result in forcing their values on others that support traditional marriage.

Iwo Jima - 70 Years Ago Today

US Marines raised the flag over Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945.

While modern Hollywood honors itself and its narcissism in the recent Academy Awards program, they pretty much ignored the accomplishments of American Sniper, a film seen by more people than all the other best picture nominees combined.

Hollywood has little love for the military, despite the fact that without the sacrifices of men such as those on Iwo Jima (6,800 KIA), they would not have the freedoms to make the many questionable movies that they foist on the public month after month.

Before Hollywood was hijacked by liberals, you would regularly find movies that reflected the views of American citizens. Many big stars served in the armed forces. In 1947 The Best Years of Our Lives, a movie about servicemen returning home after WWII, won 7 Oscars including Best Picture. In 1949 Sands of Iwo Jima garnered a Best Actor nomination for John Wayne and 3 other nominations.

Modern films that portray our servicemen in a positive light, are far less common, despite the fact that pro-military films do better at the box office than the anti-military films Hollywood prefers to make.

For those that would enjoy a modern take on the Iwo Jima campaign, you can watch Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers (2006). I would actually recommend reading the book by the same name that was written by James Bradley, a son of one of the soldiers that was in the famous flag raising picture. It is one of the very best books about World War II.

Hollywood's War on American Soldiers

Many observers were surprised to see American Sniper nominated for Best Picture this year. It would have been a real surprise if it had won.

In the golden age of Hollywood, it was common to see the American soldier portrayed as the hero. However, since the 1960's the Hollywood establishment has for the most part made movies critical of American soldiers and the military. Liberal darling Michael Moore thinks nothing of calling Kris Kyle, the hero of American Sniper, a coward and Hollywood keeps cranking out Anti-American stinkers beloved by insiders that get little notice by the public.

Uncovered: The War on Iraq (2004) - How Bush fabricated the reason to go to war in Iraq.

Battle for Hadithia (2007) - US Marines kill unarmed Iraqi civilians.

In the Valley of Elah (2007) - Soldiers deal with drug use and PTSD.

Lions for Lambs (2007) - Incompetent leaders send American soldiers to their deaths.

Redacted (2007) - American soldiers rape an Iraqi girl.

Standard Operating Procedure (2008) - American soldiers torture and abuse Iraqi prisoners.

Non-Stop (2014) - The bad guy who wants to blow up a plane is ex-military, not an Islamic terrorist that would be more believable.

All of these movies were box office disappointments. Meanwhile, in the few occasions where Hollywood makes American soldiers to be the heroes (American Sniper, Lone Survivor, Zero Dark Thirty) they make money, more than jaded Hollywood types would expect. So why don't we see more movies like this?

Hollywood elites to their core are anti-military. Too many of them think the American military is a problem and not a defender of American interests and values.

After the slew of anti-American movies that came out in 2007, I decided to blow some steam by writing a screenplay (Jihad on Hollywood) about the elite of Hollywood being captured and executed by Islamic terrorists. There are only a few hundred movies made each year and most of these are low budget independents that are seen by few. I knew it was a long shot that such a screenplay, highly critical of an anti-military Hollywood that is often sympathetic to Muslim radicals, could find a producer to make it into a film. The spec screenplay feedback was positive, but it was making fun of the very people who would decide to make it into a movie. This is not a good strategy for getting a screenplay from a new writer optioned into a movie.

The screenplay has since found an audience from readers who can recreate the movie in their mind. I have made it available for free (Apple iTunes / iBooks) or as close to free as allowed (Kindle) so more people can enjoy a fun, adventurous, action picture where Hollywood gets it comeuppance.  The screenplay will be converted to a novel format and released later this year. I am also hopeful to eventually see it issued as a graphic novel.

Obama: The Father of ISIS

Updated 8-11-2016
Trump is making news by referring to Barack Obama as the founder of ISIS. This is making a lot of leftists upset.  They complain about the accusations but they are less willing to debate the facts behind the accusation. No Barack Obama was not plotting with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to found the terrorist organization, but by pulling out American troops from Iraq he all but assured that ISIS would fill in the power vacuum.

Original Post: 2-9-2015
This is the month we celebrate American presidents, especially Abraham Lincoln (born February 12) and George Washington (born February 22).

George Washington is rightly acknowledged as "The Father of His Country". Washington's management of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War is the main reason America exists today. We celebrate the signers of the Declaration of Independence as those responsible for the birth of America, but a bunch of lawyers signing a peace of paper would have meant very little had not Washington expertly avoided military defeat from a much more powerful British army.

No Washington, no America.

Washington now has a rival in a president who is responsible for the creation of a new nation. An easy argument can be made that Barack Obama is the reason ISIS exists today and here is why.

At the beginning of the Syrian civil war, the tyrant leader Bashar al-Assad was challenged by rebels friendly to the west. Obama refused to get involved. Remember the "don't cross the red line" warning that Obama backed down from? With al-Assad and the rebels distracted fighting each other, ISIS was able to create a base in Syria unchallenged.

Even worse, Obama messed up big time when he failed to sign a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the Iraqi government to allow American troops to remain in Iraq, just as we left troops in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Croatia to help keep the peace. Leading military and national security advisors told the president it would be folly to pull troops out and allow players with anti-America interests to make mischief. Obama decided that politics was more important than national security. His left wing base would not stand for American soldiers staying behind where they might be killed and cause PR problems with a war weary American public. Obama wanted the credit for pulling the troops out of Iraq and ending the war.

What he ends up getting credit for is being "The Father of ISIS".

Sadly, America will probably have to send troops back to clean up the mess that should never have happened.

Lyin' Brian Williams

NBC News Anchor Brian Williams is catching flack now because he lied about catching flack in 2003. Reports say that Williams has repeatedly shared a story that he was on a helicopter that came under fire during the Iraq War in 2003. Turns out he was on a different helicopter that followed the damaged bird by an hour.

Showing up at an accident an hour after it happened does not make you part of the accident.

Williams's apology also turns out to be just more spinning. He said:

"On this broadcast last week, in an effort to honor and thank a veteran who protected me and so many others after a ground-fire incident in the desert during the Iraq War invasion, I made a mistake in recalling the events of twelve years ago. . . . I want to apologize. I said I was traveling in an aircraft that was hit by RPG fire; I was instead in a following aircraft. We all landed after the ground-fire incident and spent two harrowing nights in a sandstorm in the Iraq desert. This was a bungled attempt by me to thank one special veteran, and by extension, our brave military men and women, veterans everywhere, those who have served while I did not. I hope they know they have my greatest respect, and also now my apology."

Notice this "apology" does not mention his helicopter arrived an hour after the damaged helicopter landed. He also did not explain why he shared this story in settings that made no effort to "honor and thank a veteran who protected me." Williams told the story on The Letterman Show and never mentioned any veteran.

It is clear that Williams's story was a way to puff up his war street cred.

So far NBC is taking no action. Williams may get away with lying because he is darling of the establishment left who promotes the narrative the establishment left wants people to hear.

It does raise the issue that media can't be trusted to tell the truth and it won't do anything about a "trusted" newsman willing to lie in order to look good.

Fiddlin' - Hillary's Frozen Campaign Song

Updated 2/1/2016

The Disney movie Frozen is a modern classic. Disney has announced it will make the movie into a Broadway musical. The songs are catchy and the story about an ice queen and her sister has found a large audience.

I thought it would be entertaining to take one of the songs from the show and come out with a parody cover version to be sung by one of the best known ice queens around -- Hillary Clinton. I think it could make a great campaign song. Plus there is a part for Bill to sing too.

For those not familiar with the tune you can play it here in the background and sing along.

(from the movie Frozen)

The window is open, so's the door
Cause they won't remember anymore
Who knew we left the White House in disgrace?
For years I've craved the White House seal
With no more Obama, it's for real
Finally I'm ramping up my race

There'll be actual real live voters
It'll be totally strange
But wow, am I so ready for this change?

'Cause for the first time in forever
There'll be champagne, there'll be cake
For the first time in forever
What difference does it make?

Don't know if I'm elated or gassy
But I'm somewhere in that zone
'Cause for the first time in forever
I'll win it alone

I can't wait to beat everyone! [gasp]
The press says I'm THE one!

Tonight imagine my pantsuit's fine
Hiding my cankles and behind
The picture of sophisticated grace
Ooh! I suddenly see Bill standing there
With a beautiful stranger, tall and fair
I wanna punch that cheater in his face!

But then we talk pol'tics all evening,
Which is totally bizarre
Because that's the life I've led so far

For the first time in forever
There'll be magic, there'll be fun
For the first time in forever
I'll shellack ol' Bernie's bum

And I know it is totally crazy
To the White House I'll prance
Yes for the first time in forever
At least I've got a chance

Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the cruel witch you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, put on a show
Make one wrong move and everyone will know

But it's only for today

It's only for today

It's agony to wait

It's agony to wait

Be on guard to squelch Benghazi-gate!

The gate!

For the first time in forever

Don't let them in, don't let them see

I'm getting what I'm dreaming of

Be the cruel witch you always have to be

A chance to change my lonely world

A chance to find true power

Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know

I know it all ends tomorrow,
So it has to be today
'Cause for the first time in forever
For the first time in forever
Nothing's in my way!

Huckabee Right About Gay Choice

Potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee ruffled some boa feathers when he made a statement a few days ago sharing his belief that a gay lifestyle is a choice, not an uncontrolled destiny.

"People can be my friends who have lifestyles that are not necessarily my lifestyle. I don't shut people out of my circle or out of my life because they have a different point of view. I don't drink alcohol, but gosh -- a lot of my friends, maybe most of them do. You know, I don't use profanity, but believe me, I've got a lot of friends who do. Some people really like classical music and ballet and opera -- it's not my cup of tea."

This comment has got a lot of LGBT activities upset because it challenges one of the big lies they are very successful at promoting. The LGBT community would like everyone to believe that LGBT orientation is beyond anyone's control, on par with race or gender. They want people to believe that if you are LGBT, you are born that way. This is patently false.

It is real easy to prove that an LGBT lifestyle is not genetic. All we have to do is study identical twins. If there was a "gay" gene that made people born that way, both identical twins would be gay 100% of the time. The actual results are not even close.

We also know that men who identify themselves as attracted to other men do not always decide to choose a gay lifestyle. Last month the TLC network ran a program called My Husband's Not Gay. It profiled gay men who choose to marry women instead of pursue same-sex relations. The program created an uproar in the LGBT community and they tried to get the program cancelled before it aired. (So much for diversity and tolerance.)

The strong reaction to any argument that would challenge the "being gay can't be controlled" lie reveals how important it is among LGBT activists for the truth to remain suppressed. It shows how important it is for the LGBT culture that biased and/or ignorant people are to accept this propaganda unchallenged. Being bisexual by definition shows people make choices, not that they are born that way. Also, a significant proportion of people who identify themselves as transgender will later change back to their true gender.

Huckabee is right and should not be treated as a Bible thumping ignoramus. The facts are on his side.
